Joel Nelson
Joel Nelson is a professional recording engineer, producer, and arranger from Lexington, Ky working in the central Kentucky area. He works with Dave Henderson Recording as an assistant and an engineer working on live recording productions such as the UK Opera Theater productions, It’s a Grand Night for Singing, the Lexington Philharmonic, the Dimartino Osland Jazz Orchestra, the Doug Loves Movies podcasts, and more. Joel has worked with singer/songwriters, bluegrass, jazz, rock, and blues artists, and also records and mixes the monthly Jazz Arts Foundation Jazz at the Library concerts at the central branch of the Lexington Public Library.
In addition to his recording background, Joel is a professional saxophonist, guitarist, and keyboardist currently playing with several bands including Ray’s Music Exchange (soul, rock, R&B), Faded Blue (classic rock and country), and the Lexington Jazz Collective (fusion, funk, R&B, smooth jazz). He also plays with a number of local churches on their worship teams and for district and state conferences. In 2014, he won the Assemblies of God National Fine Arts competition in the woodwind solo category receiving the opportunity to perform at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Joel is passionate about performing, producing, recording, and teaching music production and technology.
