Emi

Emi is a percussionist and educator with a diverse background in concert, marching, and contemporary percussion. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky. Originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, Emi has worked with several front ensembles across the state, including KMEA 5A Champion Madison Central High School. She also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during her graduate studies. Emi currently holds the position of Principal Percussionist with the Lexington Brass Band. Her notable performance experience includes appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the North American Baroque Trumpet Conference. Her teachers include James B. Campbell, Paul Deatherage, Dr. Jamie Vilseck, and Dr. Emily Durocher. Emi’s teaching philosophy centers on developing each student’s personal goals while building strong fundamentals and musical confidence, whether they’re exploring percussion for the first time or preparing for auditions and performance opportunities.
